Heat Treatment of Hitachi KH150, KH150-2, KH150-3 Track Shoe
Complete Quenching and Tempering – The entire shoe is heated to 850-880°C, quenched in oil, and then tempered between 550-650°C. This process ensures the production of a homogeneous tempered martensite structure with high tensile strength and a ductile core.
Surface Induction Hardening – Only the surface layer of the grouser face and its external wear surface gets quickly heated using an induction coil and subsequently cooled through quenching. This leads to the formation of a hardened layer with a depth of 4-6 mm (HRC 48-55), with the internal portion remaining ductile.
