Heat Treatment
For these shoes to be able to endure the tremendous weight of 50 tons from the carrier, high-quality manganese steel (31Mn2Si or equivalent) is used for manufacturing. This kind of metal work-hardens as it ages; that is, the shoe becomes hard whenever subjected to impact, and will therefore not crack or bend.
Strict Quality Control
Each piece undergoes Non-destructive Testing (NDT/LPI/MPI) to ensure the absence of subsurface porosity or shrinkage.
